Milo's Friday Surprise

Something magical happened last night, and this morning we woke up with snow. WHAT? It almost never snows here, and definitely not this much.

Milo wanted to go outside first thing this morning. We were out maybe 3 minutes and I made the mistake of telling him, "After we play in the snow, we drink hot cocoa." Well, that was it. He was ready to head inside immediately. After I got him undressed and he had a few swigs of cocoa, he was ready to go back out... Of course.

Tickled about wearing Daddy's gloves
I waited until Lucy went down for a nap and then we spent some time making a snowman, kicking a ball, and just running around in general.

When we came back in, Milo told me he was ready for some cocoa, and I mentioned that he had already had some. He replied, "But Mommy, I played outside for long enough to have some cocoa. You said this morning in the backyard that when we play outside in the snow, then we get cocoa." So, just for today, we're drinking cocoa twice. Drink up, little man. Don't know that this will ever happen again.

Why people have children

Well, this is why people have children.... So they can dress them up in similar outfits and take pictures of them.

Always catching up

I feel like I'm constantly trying to catch up on everything. Laundry, dishes, cleaning, sleeping (yeah right), posting on my blog... Life has gotten so busy. Hmmm. Gotten so busy? I guess it just has been for a long time, and I'm finding my priorities are different. I'd rather spend time playing with the kids, going for walks, making crafts, living life than spend time on the computer. It's a good and a bad thing, right? Because otherwise how are you going to see what all these peeps have been up to?
Lucy and Mikey sizing each other up. I think they both made the other nervous.

Single and loving it. Might be Lucy's life motto if Nate has anything to do with it.

Car seat cover. Love it.

Family zoo trip

No clue why Milo had to hold up one finger.

Oh these blue eyes. What are we going to do?

My men.

Can you tell Milo was a little disappointed about the train ride being over?

I love when we go to the park with more than one adult so I can play with Milo.

Sunrise, Sunset

So I've been having this constant stream of "Sunrise, Sunset" moments the last week or so... Please tell me you've seen Fiddler on the Roof? I could never quite put my finger on the melancholy mood of the song when I was in the musical as a high school freshman, but I have finally figured out the mix of sadness and joy that comes with my little people growing older. I had no way of even grasping the concept until I had my own constantly changing children. It's a beautiful and sharp pain every single day.
Looking so big and so small at the same time.

Lucy Jane - pose much? My kids are super cheesers already.

My little monkey.

Emma and Lucy - do they look like they're up to something?

Ouch. This boy is getting way too old. Please ignore the messy face - it's apparently leftover lunch and the remains of a stamp pad adventure.

Everyone tells me this girl is my mini-me, but I have yet to see it!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Any guesses as to what I've been doing? Well, for one thing, weeping my way through another of Milo's birthdays... That's right. This little guy is three now!
AHHHH! 3! So old and so handsome.
We got Milo a tiny little bike for his birthday and he's had a blast learning to ride it. He caught on pretty quickly, and now he peddles furiously up and down the street.

I had a moment during the day... Massive headache that came on with blurry vision and a little speech trouble for a sec... So Milo's giant birthday party ended up being just a few family members. Nate shut it down, and as bad as I felt about that, Milo didn't seem to mind a bit.

See? Didn't mind at all. He still got gifts.

Mask? Check. Cape? Check. Light-up sword? Check. This boy has got it made.
I, of course, can not leave out updates on my sweet Lucy. This little lady has tried rice cereal (and let's just be honest - she's over it), and spent lots of time snuggling with her grandmas.

And then there's the great haircut of 2013. I realized when I looked in the mirror one day that I looked exactly like 1990's Alanis Morissette. And there's no way to have that be a good thing. Since I've been wearing it up non-stop, and since it gets spit up in or swung from at least once a day, I thought I might as well lose some length for a while and have a less headache-inducing ponytail. So, without further ado, my little haircut.
