I've been knitting up a storm in preparation for the Hello Holidays sale at Abram's. One of the suggestions I had was to figure out a football hat for little boys, since football is HUGE here in Texas. I found a picture but wasn't satisfied with the pattern, so I used it to come up with this. Actually, I initially came up with it in baby size, but Milo wasn't having it. He needed one of his own, so I surprised him with it this morning. Needless to say, he's an accessorizing kind of guy.

Life Lessons by Milo
Life Lesson: If you don't want your picture taken, don't try on the bonnet. In other words, don't do it if you don't want to get caught. That's all I have to say.

Sweet little people
Here's how you at least know that Milo is my child. He is IN LOVE with library books. And, in fact, he had to stack them all up as he read them, so he made himself a nice little display. I enjoyed it so much that I left it up for a while.
We had a great time the other day playing outside. I held Lucy for a while, and Milo colored on himself with sidewalk chalk. Good times. I took this picture before I popped him in the tub, although there was no capturing the full extent of his chalkiness. It does explain the toilet paper roll in the background, though.
And, ladies and gentlemen, I present Princess Lucy on her throne.
Happy Sunday, and have a wonderful week!

Milo's new hat
With all the hats that I make, I still haven't done one for Milo. There are so many hat patterns for little girls, and I always have people asking me for one, so my knitting time is filled with work for other people. But last night I just started knitting and hoped for the best. I didn't have a pattern, just an idea of what I wanted. This is what I came up with, and Milo was delighted this morning when he woke up to a new hat. And with such a cute little boy hat model, why haven't I done this sooner?

Little Jackson Lucy Lu
I can't tell what's cuter, a girl and her daddy...
...Or a girl and her brother.
Either way, these are some pretty adorable little people around here!

Mario Kart madness
As a parent, it's my job to maintain a good sense of humor, and that requires me to laugh at completely inappropriate things on a regular basis. Yesterday Milo and I ran a quick errand together to Hobby Lobby and Walmart. He's been all about MarioKart lately, and so I bought him a little Yoshi racing car that he found close to the check-out line. He already has a little Mario car, so it was the perfect companion.
When we got back into the car, Milo was busy talking all about MarioKart, asking me about the different characters. He absolutely loves "the big monkey and the little monkey," because it's like he and Daddy. I just didn't realize he knew his name. "You know that big monkey, Mommy? Donkey Dong?"
This is where I'm supposed to act like a grown-up, and I was thankful that I was in the front seat and he was in the back as I choked back laughter. "Yes, baby. I remember Donkey Kong."
I could literally hear the wheels in his head turning in complete and total innocence. "Hmmmmmm, Mommy. You call him Donkey Kong. But I call him Donkey Dong."
What's a girl to do with that one? Here are a few fantastic photos to get you through the weekend. Hope it's a good one!

Milo and Lucy were hanging out together watching Finding Nemo. Totally unposed - this girl loves her brother and literally had her arm around him. |
Here my kids are looking JUST alike. |
One VERY happy camper. I'm telling you, Milo is her favorite toy. |
