May Beach Vacation

Just a little beach vacation trip action for you... We went to the aquarium at Moody Gardens on the way down, and my little people were super impressed. Then we stayed at Crystal Beach for a few days, soaking up sun and getting some very strange sunburns. What can I say? We're a fair-skinned family.

Then, on the way home, torrential rain flooded parts of 59N and we were trapped in Kingwood overnight! It was quite the adventure, and now we're safe and sound and glad to be sleeping in our own beds again after a FANTASTIC trip.

Milo moments

I treasure a lot of Milo moments in my heart, and I frantically try to document them so I never forget. We vacationed at Crystal Beach this last week, and on our way down, we visited the aquarium at Moody Gardens.

Milo was fascinated with every new creature we saw, and he finally told me, "Mommy, there are all these amazing creatures! And every time I see one, I feel so proud of Yahweh."

And this Mommy heart is so proud of my little man.

Conversations with Little People

Milo and I were snuggling it up during an afternoon storm today, and he spent a lot of time just quiet (which never happens). Finally he told me thoughtfully, "Mommy, I really like to pray at night, when you go out and my stars are on and it's dark. Or at my feet off the floor time, when I'm just by myself. I like to pray and talk to Yahweh."

My heart instantly melted at the thought of him just chatting it up with God during these times (because, believe me, the child is always chatting it up at bedtime), and then he got even more pensive.

"I think I'm going to ask Him if we can have a new baby. A boy or a girl, whatever He thinks is best."

I kissed him and sent him on his way, and I have no idea whether he ever had that conversation, but it was all so heart-warming.

And then, my precious Lucy Jane. I have been frantically working on a secret anniversary gift for Nate every day while he's at work. It's been about two weeks, and neither of my little people have said a word, so I thought we were in the clear because our anniversary is tomorrow.

I stashed away the socks I was knitting for Nate as he pulled into the driveway after work, thinking it would all work out. And then Lucy, my wonderful, excited Lucy, joyfully reported to Nate, "Don't worry, Daddy, we hid your socks!"

Surprise OFF. But with the sweetest intentions. Nate did something really similar when he was a little guy. His mom had packed the three boys up to get pictures taken for a surprise for their dad. After discussing all the way home how they couldn't say a word, sweet, excited Nate ran in and told his dad immediately. Again, surprise off. But with the sweetest intentions. Good to know you can pass things like that down, right?

.

This is another shot from Mother's Day, but I just had to say how much I love this thoughtful, caring, amazing man (that's it for the mush).

We took multiple shots, but this is the only one that made the cut. Such is life!

Mother's Day

Just one more post, because I'm trying to get caught up. Yesterday was Mother's Day, and I felt so very special. My little people (and my wonderful Nate) brought me breakfast in bed, with homemade mugs and a homemade candle. Milo dressed in a red shirt because he knows how much I like him in red, and Lucy picked out her "fancy shirt" (which was a flowered tank top) and sparkly pants. Milo mentioned multiple times during the day that he would like to do things for me, like clean up the house, or play whatever I wanted to play...

Plus we got to see both moms during the day, so it was so lovely.

The cherry on top? I actually got a picture of my with my little people!

Good one

Know any good jokes? My little people have been working on quite the repertoire. I thought I'd share a few I had on video.
